Recently launched NASA's cosmic telescope started its mission on Tuesday to create a comprehensive map of the universe and detect hundreds of millions of galaxies and cosmic phenomena existing since the very beginning of time. The equipment, named "SPHEREx", was launched from California by SpaceX and will orbit around Earth through its orbit. On board, there are also four small satellites for studying the Sun.
The project, costing 488 million dollars, aims to understand the processes of formation and evolution of galaxies over a span of billions of years, as well as to explain the rapid expansion of the universe in its early moments. Inside the Milky Way, the telescope will search for water and essential life elements in distant icy bodies, where new solar systems are formed.
